Wembdon Painting Group was formed in 1992 by a small group of enthusiastic amateur artists who enjoyed each other’s company by sharing their common interests and encouraging each other to be ambitious and experimental.
Today, nothing has changed in that concept. Different members now enjoy the regular meetings and events that the committee arrange on their behalf. We meet in the Youth and Community Room at St George’s Parish Rooms every Tuesday morning from 9.30 to 12 noon. The annual fee is £3 and payment of £2 each week members attend (including tea, coffee and biscuits). Our members have a wide range of abilities and paint in many different media. If you are a beginner or experienced you are welcome to join us.
Throughout the year we have at least one day out to a place of interest e.g. Stourhead, Paignton Zoo, Lyme Regis, Sidmouth Festival to name but a few. We hold quarterly internal competitions and occasionally invite professional artists to give workshops. We all encourage each other with friendly advice and generally have a good time. It is essentially a social group of like minded people, some of whom live in Wembdon, others are from Bridgwater or villages close by.
