WPC Standing Orders

Under the Local Government Act 1972 parish councils have the power to organise their own affairs, If they do this they must produce a document how they wish to function as a council.  This document is known as Standing Orders and will cover procedures of meetings, the committee structure they wish to use, financial matters not covered by the council’s regulations, delegation to council officers and other such matters. Standing Orders cannot overwrite matters defined in legislation, for example the parish council quorum or delegating decision making to a council member.
