At an Extraordinary Parish Council meeting today it was agreed to approve and implement a new High Consequence Infectious Disease Policy, as a consequence of the continuing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The policy has been put in place in order to protect employees of the Council, Councillors, volunteers, and members of the public.

Main effects of the policy

While this policy remains in force:

  • There will be no meetings of the Parish Council
  • Powers have been delegated to the Parish Clerk, to allow the statutory business of the Council to continue
  • New planning applications will still be considered by the members of the Planning Committee, who will agree on a response by means of a virtual meeting. The Clerk will then submit the response to Sedgemoor District Council
  • Correspondence from 3rd parties which would normally be discussed at a Parish Council meeting will be circulated to Councillors, who will agree on how the Clerk will respond
  • Decisions made will be minuted once meetings have been resumed
