Casual Vacancy for Parish Councillor

Following the resignation of Neil Bushill as a Councillor, a Casual Vacancy has arisen. Neil is thanked for his contribution to the work of the Parish Council.

Parish Councillors are unpaid volunteers, who must qualify to be considered.  Applicants must be over 18 years of age, and either:

Have lived in the Parish, or within three miles of the Parish boundary, for at least 12 months or

Work in the Parish or

Own land in the Parish.

Anyone who has ever been made bankrupt or given a prison sentence of three months or more (including a suspended sentence) cannot apply.

Any interested person should email the Clerk in the first instance (clerk@wembdon.org) including their telephone number, expressing their interest.  The Clerk will then make contact to outline the role of Councillor.  The new Councillor will be co-opted to the Council at the next Parish Council meeting on 11th February 2019 at the Village Hall.  If there is more than one applicant then the Councillors have the power to decide which person to co-opt.
