Bridgwater Tidal Barrier Project Exhibition – Now postponed

Bridgwater Tidal Barrier Project

The Environment Agency and Sedgemoor District Council have been working together to develop proposals for a tidal barrier to protect Bridgwater and the surrounding area from flooding. The project also includes plans for improved flood defences required downstream.

Since our last exhibition in July 2017 we have been progressing and refining our proposals, taking into account the feedback that was given. We are now at a stage where we can share the detail of our latest designs and ask for your feedback. This will be the opportunity for everyone to comment before we apply for the consents required to build the scheme.

What is proposed?

  1. Build a tidal barrier across the River Parrett to help better manage flood risk to

Bridgwater

  1. Improve the downstream flood defences for Chilton Trinity, Combwich and Pawlett

The public exhibition planned at St Mary’s Church, Bridgwater, on

Friday 5 October 2018 between 10am and 6.30pm HAS NOW BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL LATER THIS YEAR
