Major Road Works in Wembdon in August

I am writing to inform you of the highway works that are planned for the Wembdon area in August. The zebra crossing near Inwood Road, cycle signing along B3339 and relocation of the 30mph boundary near the covered reservoir will commence on Monday 7th August 2017 and is planned to last for four works. The contractor who will be undertaking the work is Drayton Construction Ltd who are currently working on the Cannington cycle scheme as sub-contractors to Skanska.

In order to undertake some of the works associated with the Sandford Hill to Cannington cycle scheme it will be necessary to close the B3339 by the roundabout (see attached plan) with a one way system via Skimmerton Lane. This closure is currently planned for week commencing Monday 21st August 2017 with a back up week of Tuesday 29th August 2017. The works are expected to last no more than one week and the closure will be advertised. It is planned to reopen the road prior to the school returning on Monday 4th September 2017.

The details of the closure has been passed to our Traffic Team today to prepare the advert for the local newspaper.

The attached plan shows the route that the local bus service will need to take and discussions are taking place with the bus company.

With the closure in place it is hoped that the relocated 30 mph gateway on Sandford Hill can be put in place along with hedge trimming and crown raising of trees in the covered reservoir site.
